This landmark album features a vibrant blend of Afro-Cuban jazz, masterfully crafted by Irving Flores alongside a lineup of jazz legends. Recorded live in New York, the album showcases Irving’s dynamic compositions with contributions from Giovanni Hidalgo on Congas, Brian Lynch on Trumpet, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez on Drums, John Benitez on Upright and Electric Bass, and Norbert Stachel on Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Clarinet, and Flute. ‘Armando Mi Conga’ promises to be a profound expression of collaborative genius and a significant addition to the jazz landscape.

Irving Flores: A Maestro of Collaboration and Composition
Throughout his illustrious career, Irving Flores has graced the stage alongside jazz luminaries and celebrated musicians, creating unforgettable live music experiences. His collaborations include performances with giants such as Bill Watrous, Charles McPherson, Abraham Laboriel, Poncho Sanchez, and the vibrant Spanish Harlem Orchestra. Irving’s dynamic interactions extend to jazz greats Alex Acuna, Akira Jimbo, Airto Moreira, and Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez. Notably, his work with Gilbert Castellanos and Peter Sprague has further solidified his reputation in the jazz community.
Irving’s remarkable talent for arrangements is evident in his diverse projects, including the “Tribute to Frank Sinatra” performed by a 70-piece San Diego Symphony, which received critical acclaim. He has also crafted exquisite string arrangements for Luis Miguel and orchestrated complex works for the San Diego Symphony, demonstrating his ability to enhance and transform musical works with his unique artistic touch.

Recuerdos
Within the production of the album you may hear a blend of two perspectives. An eastern view from my friend Hiro and the western vision of a humble musical servant. No digital tricks, effects, editions, or alterations exist in this recording. What you hear is true music and the soul given at the time of each take.

This album includes two of my original compositions, “Coronado Bridge” and “Dana Point,” and an arrangement for a Dave Scott composition “Samba del Sol,” featuring the legendary Bill Watrous.
